There is still great need for safe, clean water in many parts of Africa. One borehole construction cost approximately $6000.USD and provides clean water to many people, for many years... 
most often people walk 10 to 20 miles in search of water (not even clean water but dirty water) for household and cooking use. having clean water sources have implications beyond the water itself, the incidence of water born diseases like diarrhea, and cholera is greatly decreased... hundreds die daily in Africa from drinking from unclean.
